Kitimat Public Library Celebrates 70 Years with a Weekend of Free Family Events
The Kitimat Public Library is turning 70, and the community is invited to celebrate this major milestone with a weekend packed full of fun, learning, and local culture. From June 6 to 8, 2025, the library will host a variety of free events designed for all ages.
Here’s what to expect over the celebration weekend:
Friday, June 6 – Trivia Night (6:00 PM)
Kick things off with some friendly competition at our very first Trivia Night. Come solo, bring a team, or join one when you arrive. Whether you’re a trivia pro or just in it for fun, there are prizes up for grabs and a great time guaranteed.
Saturday, June 7 – Family Fun Day (11:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
Saturday is all about kids, creativity, and community. Activities include storytime, craft stations, cupcake decorating, face painting, hot dogs, and outdoor games. Families will also enjoy special visits from the RCMP, the Firesmart crew, Ember the Fox, and the Kitimat Firefighters.
Sunday, June 8 – Wellness & Words (9:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
Sunday begins with a peaceful start—free library yoga in the morning. In the afternoon, the spotlight turns to acclaimed Haisla author and storyteller Eden Robinson, who will be sharing her work and stories with attendees.
All events are free and will be held at the Kitimat Public Library, 940 Wakashan Avenue.
