Fort St. John RCMP recovered $1,200 in stolen merchandise after arresting a woman for bike theft. On May 23, police were called to 98th Street and 104th Avenue after reports of a female suspect stealing a bicycle. Officers located and arrested the woman, who also had two unendorsed warrants.
During the arrest, police found a garbage bag full of unopened merchandise in her possession. A quick check with a nearby store confirmed the goods—including a large amount of perfume—had just been stolen. All items were returned to the store. The woman was held for court and later released under a previous court order.
Just days later, on May 26, RCMP were called to a grocery store on 100th Street for a separate theft. The suspect, already in custody by store security, was found with an imitation Sig Sauer BB gun hidden on him. Police arrested him and identified him as Dylan Skerik.
Skerik now faces several charges, including theft under $5,000, carrying a concealed weapon, and multiple breaches of probation. Officers emphasized the danger of imitation firearms, which can escalate situations quickly.
He remains in custody ahead of his next court appearance on May 29.
