Percy Guichon, CEO of Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. and an elected Councillor of the Tŝideldel First Nation, has received the Innovation Award from the BC First Nations Forestry Council. The prestigious award highlights his leadership in advancing Indigenous-led forest stewardship in British Columbia.
Guichon has led CCR to become a regional leader in wildfire mitigation, reforestation, and land rehabilitation, working across the traditional territories of its First Nation partners. By integrating Indigenous knowledge with modern forestry practices, CCR has developed a culturally grounded model for land management.
Under Guichon’s leadership, CCR has secured more than $40 million in project funding, supporting local employment, ecological restoration, and long-term collaboration between Indigenous Nations and industry. The BC First Nations Forestry Council praised Guichon for bringing cultural responsibility and innovation to the forefront of forest management.
Guichon called the award a collective achievement and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support First Nations leadership in forestry. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and innovation for future generations.
