An intensive gang enforcement operation in Dawson Creek has resulted in 33 arrests, dozens of investigations, and the seizure of weapons, drugs, and cash. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. deployed its Uniform Gang Enforcement Team to the Peace Region from May 6th to 11th, working in partnership with Dawson Creek and Fort St. John RCMP.
The officers targeted gang-linked activity, leading to 27 new investigations. Among the items seized: five loaded firearms including rifles and pistols, two replica guns, multiple knives, batons, and even a machete, axe, and bayonet. Two tasers and a large quantity of ammunition were also found.
On the drug side, police recovered more than 850 grams of crack cocaine, 275 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of meth, and a small amount of fentanyl. About $12,500 in cash was also seized.
Police say this deployment disrupted organized criminal activity and delivered a significant blow to gang operations in the region.
CFSEU-BC spokesperson Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha says province-wide deployments like this one are vital to reducing gang violence and enhancing community safety by working with local police across British Columbia.
