RCMP in the Telkwa area are looking to track down a group of youths riding ATVs and causing concern for some residents.
Police say complaints are on the rise, with reports of young riders operating without helmets or safety gear—and driving on roads where ATVs aren’t allowed. Officers believe the riders are underage and likely unlicensed.
Smithers RCMP are urging parents to talk to their kids about ATV safety, warning that improper use can put both riders and pedestrians at risk.
They also note the risk of fire—saying a single spark from an ATV could spread quickly in dry conditions.
Anyone with information is asked to contact local RCMP.
