Brooklyn Frank, a first-year Bachelor of Health Sciences student at UNBC, is reflecting on a successful start to her academic journey at the Prince George campus. Frank, a recipient of the prestigious UNBC Scholars Award for her achievements at Caledonia Secondary in Terrace, has embraced the challenges of university life and is committed to pursuing a career in medicine.
The 18-year-old Nisga’a and Tahltan student has found a supportive and welcoming environment at UNBC, where she’s adapted to new learning styles and earned impressive grades, including A’s in her first semester. Frank is pursuing a major in Biomedical Studies, with aspirations to become a physician, focusing on family medicine, sports medicine, and women’s health.
Her long-term goal is to return to her home community of Terrace after medical school. Inspired by the region’s healthcare challenges, including a shortage of physicians and the new Ksyen Regional Hospital, Frank plans to use her education to give back and support the healthcare needs of northern B.C.
