Chetwynd RCMP are investigating a series of suspicious fires that occurred late Sunday night, May 4, in the Pine Pass area near Hasler Flats. Police were called to the scene shortly after 11:00 p.m. and located an active fire near Willow Flats, where fire crews were already responding.
Another extinguished fire was found about five kilometres south near Fisher Creek, just 30 metres from the roadside. Investigators believe the fires were deliberately set and have collected evidence for forensic analysis. All fires have since been put out.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage, or anyone with information, to contact the Chetwynd RCMP at 250-788-9221.
