Coast Mountain College is launching a new Information Technology diploma program at its Terrace campus starting September 2025. The two-year program is designed to address a growing need for skilled IT professionals in Northern BC and across the province.
Students will gain hands-on training in areas such as server management, virtualization, cloud computing, cybersecurity, networking, databases, programming, and web design. The program includes two four-month academic terms each year, with a one-month work experience placement at the end of the first year to give students real-world exposure.
The program is being offered in partnership with Vancouver Island University, which brings decades of experience delivering IT education and has a strong track record of graduates working in the field. This collaboration ensures students are well-prepared to support local and regional technology needs.
According to BC’s 2025 Labour Market Outlook, nearly 30,000 IT-related job openings are expected over the next ten years. Coast Mountain College’s new program aims to equip students with the skills and experience to fill these roles and build sustainable careers in the region.
The program reflects the college’s broader goal of providing practical, place-based learning connected to industry needs.
