Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has committed to fully implementing five key recommendations from Canada’s energy sector aimed at ending the country’s reliance on the U.S. for oil exports. Poilievre is challenging Mark Carney to adopt similar policies, accusing him of undermining Canada’s energy potential with his “keep it in the ground” stance. Poilievre’s plan includes repealing the No-New-Pipelines Law and West Coast tanker ban, streamlining regulatory processes for faster project approvals, and eliminating the industrial carbon tax. He also promises to establish loan guarantees for Indigenous communities to support resource development. Poilievre argues that under the Liberals, Canada has lost billions in energy investments, and the country’s energy infrastructure has become stagnant. A Conservative government, Poilievre claims, will create jobs, boost exports, and strengthen Canada’s economic sovereignty by opening up new markets for Canadian energy.
