Despite a recent drop in polling, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre drew a strong crowd at a rally in London, Ontario, on Sunday. Hundreds of supporters gathered at RBC Place, confident in Poilievre’s chances ahead of the looming federal election. The rally came just hours before Mark Carney was announced as the new leader of the Liberal Party, positioning him as Poilievre’s main opponent. Poilievre criticized Carney for his stance on the carbon tax and suggested he would implement an even larger tax if elected. The Conservative leader promised to focus on Canadian workers, resource sectors, and addressing crime. Outside the rally, a smaller group of protesters expressed opposition, with some drawing comparisons between Poilievre and U.S. President Donald Trump. Poilievre’s supporters, however, remained hopeful that an election would be called soon, with many pushing for a swift decision to bring change to Canada’s leadership.
