July 30th, 2024, RCMP’s West Coast Marine Services, during a routine boat check, discovered a vessel with a tampered Hull Identification Number. The boat, found to be stolen, led to the arrest of its operator for possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. The boat was seized as evidence. Routine checks by the Marine RCMP are often educational but can also reveal criminal activity. The operator has been released on paperwork and will face court at a later date. For tips or reports, call 250-624-2136; in emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
