More information has been released relating to a stop-work order issued for a section of the Coastal GasLink pipeline last month.
It found multiple violations related to sediment and erosion control issues between the route’s 143 and 146 kilometre mark, east of McLeod Lake.
According to the inspection record, CGL failed to implement water bars, sediment fences, check dams, and sumps in the area.
Each of those measures are included in their Work Execution Plan as a means to prevent sediment-laden water from entering sensitive waterways.
In addition, inspectors found a pair of pump filter bags in locations not approved for pumping, with evidence of sediment in nearby fish-bearing waters.
One of the bags was not attached to a pump, while the second was connected, though the pump was not active at the time.
CGL says they proactively ceased construction activities in the area prior to the stop-work order being issued on April 28th.
Those orders will remain in place until a follow-up inspection determines that activities at the site are back within compliance.
There are now six active stop-work orders along the 670 kilometre route, with five of those being in the Anzac watershed.
