Improvements are on the way for a number of smaller airports on the Northcoast, thanks to new investments through the BC Air Access Program.
Just over $511,000 will help the Kitimat Airport conduct a greenhouse gas emission audit, and fund taxiway and apron improvements.
Masset gets just under $26,000 for a temporary runway, taxiway, and apron lighting.
$88,000 will go towards development of an airport master plan in Dease Lake, and the purchase of batteries for solar-powered hazar beacons.
Fort St James gets $2 million for their own airport master plan, as well as improvements to the runway end safety area, and lighting.
And Williams Lake gets $84,000 for apron lighting and a pair of automatic security gates.
