Residents are being reminded that, as wildfires rage and smoke fills the skies, additional restrictions may be in place on the roads.
One driver learned that the hard way after being caught speeding through an area near the Red Creek wildfire with a reduced speed limit in place.
A patrolling officer caught the vehicle driving 155 km/h through the zone, which had a temporary limit of 50 km/h due to reduced visibility.
In addition to a ticket for excessive speed, the driver’s vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
Police are advising residents to obey all posted signage, especially in and around emergency areas and wildfires.
