It’s been a busy two weeks for the Dr. R.E.M Lee Hospital Foundation in Terrace.
From May 1-7, Tim Horton’s held their annual Smile Cookie Campaign to fundraise for local charities, and, like the past three years, their proceeds went to the foundation for new hospital equipment.
This year, the foundation was working towards a $15,000 fundraiser for a pediatric laryngoscope for the Mills Memorial Hospital emergency room.
Last year’s campaign, which happened in September, saw 13,000 cookies sold at $1 each towards a specialized tray for complex hand procedures.
According to Heather Bellamy, Administrative Assistant for the foundation, this year the cookies sat at $1.50 a piece and 6,478 cookies were sold, adding up to $9,717 between the Keith and Lazelle Avenue locations.
That total will also be supplemented with the pending results of the foundation’s participation in McDonald’s May 10 McHappy Day fundraiser, which will see funds split with the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
