Williams Lake City Councillors gave three readings to their Financial Plan and Municipal Tax Rate bylaws during a special meeting on Wednesday.
While the operational budget was increased by $2 million to $29 million, the overall budget has been decreased to $45.9 million.
That represents a drop of $1 million compared to last year, paving the way for a municipal tax mill rate of 6.6 percent, across all property classes.
But residential property owners will see an 11.8 percent tax increase, down one percent compared to last year’s increase.
That means the owner of a home valued at the City’s average of $367,000 will see an increase of $195 over the year.
Council will consider whether or not to adopt both bylaws at their May 2nd regular meeting.
