British Columbia is doubling the funding for the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure program.
Categorized by economic diversification, economic capacity, and forest impact transition, $66 million will be distributed to a total of 200 projects across BC.
That funding will help support First Nations and rural communities enhance tourism, business, and infrastructure.
25 of those projects are located on the North Coast and include a trail development master plan in Terrace for $25,600.
Kitselas Band Council will get $80,000 toward a mountain goat habitat study, and Kitsumkalum Indian Band will get $666,611 towards developing Indigenous tourism and cultural experiences.
$98,000 will also be going to the BC Assembly of First Nations for a rural and remote First Nations Economic Study.
