BC’s Independent Investigations Office has determined that police actions were not responsible for the 2022 death of a Williams Lake man.
On July 26th of last year, a pair of officers were approached by an individual concerned over the health of a man in Boitanio Park.
Both police and a medical professional who happened to be nearby determined that the man appeared to be well and not in medical distress.
Roughly three hours later, officers were again flagged by civilians, who informed them of a deceased man in the Park.
That man would end up being the same one police spoke with earlier, prompting an IIO investigation.
But, after reviewing video evidence, medical records, and witness testimonies, investigators determined that police were not at fault for the death.
