Each of BC’s 71 public libraries and library support organizations are splitting $45 million in fresh Provincial grant funding.
In the Stikine, the Hazelton District Public Library gets $145,000, the Smithers Library will see $166,000, and the Stewart Library gets $65,000.
But, it’s the Prince Rupert Public Library netting the largest grant in the Northwest, with just over $207,500.
With the funding, the facilities will be able to address local priorities, increase hours, expand digital collections, and improve access to literacy and learning opportunities.
