Williams Lake residents may notice some smoky skies throughout the month, as the BC Wildfire Service conducts a number of prescribed burns.
Planned to pick up as early as tomorrow, the burns will cover a combined 9.5 hectares in Boitanio Park and around the Stampede Park Grounds.
Sporadic burns will continue through April 21st, weather permitting, with traffic control on-site while the work is underway.
Through the prescribed burns, the Wildfire Service aims to reduce risks of a fire spreading within City limits.
Conducted in partnership with the Williams Lake First Nation, the activities will also support the growth of local plantlife, and slow the spread of invasive species.
