Funding increase for foster families effective April 1

Child and Family Development Minister Mitzi Dean has announced a monthly pay rais for foster families.

Those with kids 11 and under will see a monthly pay increase by $450 per child and $531 per child between ages 12 and 19.

That results in totals of $1,465 per child 11 and under and $1,655 for children between 12 and 19 effective on April 1.

According to Dean, rates were frozen for nearly a decade before the NDP took power in 2017.

Pay raises for those with children who have support needs and kinship caregivers will also be seen.
