Members of the public are being asked for feedback on a Current Condition Report draft from the Province to inform the next steps of the Lakes Resiliency Project.
The draft report examines the forest and ecosystem health in the Lakes Timber Supply Area consisting of Burns Lake, Decker Lake, Grassy Plains, and Danskin.
Included in the draft are the conditions of resource value, First Nations values, age and stock of trees, and wildlife and wetlands.
Responses to the draft will be taken into consideration to create a forest landscape plan that aims to strengthen biodiversity, silviculture, water and wildlife habitats.
Forest Landscape Plans are the provinces new approach to forest stewardship that prioritizes cultural and ecological values, reduces wildfire risk, and supports innovative forestry jobs.
The report is written by Forest Ecosystems Solutions with help from provincial experts, First Nations, forest licensees and a range representative.
The online questionnaire is available until May 12, and Current Condition Report can be read here.
