Premier David Eby is looking for answers after learning that a Langley-based cannabis company may have been approved to distribute cocaine.
Adastra Labs says that Health Canada approved an amendment to their Controlled Drug and Substances Dealer License last month.
They say the amendment allows them to interact with up to 250 grams of cocaine, and import coca leaves to synthesize the substance.
But, Eby says that he did not authorize the alleged changes, nor was he consulted on them.
While Health Canada has not yet publicly confirmed the claims, Eby says that if they are true, he wants an explanation.
BC decriminalized personal possession of up to 2.5 grams of the drug last month, but that does not allow the sales or distribution of the substance.
