Frigid temperatures and bitter winds are expected to stick around in coastal regions through tomorrow morning.
Environment Canada has issued arctic outflow and windchill warnings for both inland and coastal sections of the north and central coasts.
Temperatures in Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Bella Coola and the surrounding areas will drop into the minus 20s, after windchill.
In the Peace Region, meanwhile, wind chill values are forecasted to drop as low as -40.
Conditions are expected to be at their worst overnight and into tomorrow morning, after which they will begin to improve.
Those heading outside are advised to bundle up, limit exposed skin as much as possible, and to limit time spent outdoors.
It takes less than 10 minutes for human skin to catch frostbite in temperatures below -20, with hypthermia risks also significantly elevated.
