A pair of routine traffic stops conducted along Highway 97 last week resulted in the seizure of a slew of illegal drugs.
RCMP pulled the first vehicle over between 100 Mile House and Williams Lake on February 16th.
During the stop, officers discovered more than 250 cannabis plants in the vehicle, without the proper authorization to transport them.
Under current laws, drivers are only allowed to transport a maximum of four plants without authorization, so long as they aren’t budding or flowering.
Later that same day, police pulled over a second vehicle for a motor vehicle act offense, near Lac La Hache.
Officers initiated a drug trafficking investigation at the scene, and located approximately 1.5 kgs of suspected cocaine in the vehicle.
Police seized the drugs and the vehicle, and the suspect was released to appear in court at a later date as the investigation continues.
