A trio of information sessions are being held next week to update Tahltan members on the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.
That project aims to reopen a former gold and silver mine, located roughly 60 kms northwest of Stewart.
According to operator Skeena Resources, the open-pit mine is expected to produce 3.8 million gold equivalent ounces over a 9 year lifespan.
On Wednesday, the Tahltan Central Government is hosting the first of three outreach sessions at the Telegraph Creek Recreation Centre.
They’ll hold another meeting at the Klauchon School in Iskut the following day, and another at the Dease Lake Community Hall on Friday.
Each session will run from 4:30 in the afternoon to 7:30, with the exception of the Dease Lake meeting, which ends at 6:30.
Those meetings coincide with the BC Environmental Assessment Office’s open comment period for the project.
EAO representatives will be on hand to answer questions, and those wishing to submit comments can do so through this link.
