BC added 22,000 full time jobs in January, according to the most recent Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada.
Total employment, however, went up by just 7,700, due to a loss of just over 14,000 part-time jobs.
Unemployment in BC rose by 0.3 percent last month to 4.4 percent, but remains near all-time record lows.
That rate is the fourth lowest among the provinces, with Canada’s unemployment rate as a whole holding steady at 5 percent.
For the North Coast and Nechako region specifically, unemployment sits at 4.7 percent, the second highest of BC’s 7 economic regions.
