More than 100 graduate teaching assistants at the University of Northern BC are covered under a newly ratified collective bargaining agreement.
Signed between the University and CUPE 2278, the agreement is for a 3 year term and is retroactive to July 1st of last year.
Workers will get a flat wage increase of 25 cents per hour, plus 3.24 percent in year one of the new deal.
Year two will see a 5.5 percent wage increase, plus a cost of living adjustment of up to 6.75 percent, and year three will see a 2 percent increase plus a max adjustment of 3 percent.
It also features articles to support up to two days of leave for Indigenous employees, and provides an extra $100 toward benefits.
Letters of Understanding included in the agreement also address workload concerns, hiring criteria, and recruitment.
