Avalanche Canada has lowered the danger rating for inland and coastal sections of the Northcoast to stage 3, though risks remain high.
Stage 3, or considerable risk, is the third highest stage on their scale, indicating dangerous travel condition, and a high likelihood of small avalanches.
Despite the drop in rating, a weak lower snowpack buried under more recent snowfall is still a concern, and windy areas and rocky terrain should be avoided.
Large avalanches are also still possible in certain areas, particularly in the backcountry, or near loose slabs or mountainsides.
Danger ratings in the remainder of the Stikine and Bulkley Valley, and near the Northern Rockies in the Peace and Cariboo Regions also remain at stage 3.
