More than 250 artists and organizations across BC will split $2.7 million in fresh provincial funding to help create a more inclusive and diverse arts sector.
$28,000 of that will go to the Kermode Friendship Centre, in part to support engineering and installation of their Honouring Our Children Totem Pole.
It will also help fund a community celebration, documentary, and cultural-awareness dialogue, all centred around the Pole.
Just over $10,000 will support a two-week artist residency program for marginalized or under-represented artists, through the Smithers Gallery Association.
Numerous other awards, scholarships and grants were also handed out, totaling between $3,000 and $48,000 each.
