Canada completed just two of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action in 2022, according to the Yellowhead Institute’s annual report.
Each year, the Institute releases their Calls to Action Accountability Special Report, to highlight the progress of reconciliation in Canada.
This year’s report took a more collaborative approach, offering insights and perspectives from esteemed Indigenous experts in each Legacy category.
They found that just two of the 94 Calls to Action in the Commission’s Final Report were completed this year, and only 13 total since its release in 2015.
Calls to Action number 67 and 70 saw the Canadian Museum Association and Association of Archivists undertake policy reviews to determine compliance with UNDRIP.
Both of those calls, however, were completed by non-government organizations, and both brought forward more recommendations to address colonial policies.
