British Columbians are being asked for their input on the province’s Coastal Marine Strategy.
The strategy is a first and is being developed with First Nations input.
An intentions paper has now been released, demonstrating the outline of the strategy moving forward.
Some of the intentions consist of ensuring coastal areas remain resilient to climate change and can support a sustainable ocean economy.
According to the province, the ocean-based economy generates about 8 percent of BC’s gross and employs over 100,000 people.
Eventually, the strategy will be merged with BC’s wild salmon and watershed security strategies.
The Coastal Marine Strategy is expected to span 20 years, and you can find more information and submit your input here.
