Over the past few days, it appears that the Northwest Fire Centre is getting a bit of a break when it comes to wildfires popping up in the region.
There are now only 17 fires currently burning in the Centre, with 6 listed as out of control and one listed as new, suspected to be caused by lightning.
Two small lightning caused fires are burning south of Tesla Lake, near Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, while five more are burning just north of there near Watuk Lake, St Thomas Bay, and the Nechako Reservoir near Tahtsa Lake.
Several blazes have gotten under control as of late, including one fire near Nigunsaw River which is now listed as held and a few have even been snuffed out.
While the fire burning at the confluence of the Morice River and Gosnell Creek is listed as under control now, the other fire that appeared in the nearby area has been put out.
Although one new suspected to be lightning caused fire popped up near Cummin Creek and is listed at 4 hectares.
