Fisheries and Oceans Canada looking for feedback on plan to transition BC away from open-net pen salmon farming

In order to implement their plan to transition BC away from open-net pen salmon farming, Fisheries and Oceans Canada will be seeking the opinions of the public through various means.

One such method is by holding multiple virtual engagement information sessions and the final sessions, where the draft framework will be reviewed and questions about said draft can be asked, will be held today and next Tuesday from 1 to 4 PM.

The sessions will be open to all Indigenous organizations, First Nation Communities, local governments and other BC organizations that are interested.

The other main way of getting opinions from the public on this subject is via an online multiple choice survey, which can be found here.

All the input and feedback will be used to develop this transition plan and it is expected to be finalized by spring 2023.
