In order to make sure that BC’s family doctors are getting the support that they need, the Province announced that $118 million in stabilization funding will be going to these doctors.
This idea was developed by both the Province and Doctors of BC as a part of B.C.’s primary care strategy.
The main providers of this funding are the Ministry of Health, who gave $75 million, and the General Practices Services Committee, who provided $43 million.
These funds will be available from Oct. 1st to Jan. 31st next year and will be available to family doctors who provide ongoing services to their patients and who pay overhead costs.
Over 70 percent of family doctors in the Province are expected to get a piece of funding, which is also a part of a multi phase plan to protect BC’s Health care system.
