According to LNG Canada’s mid-year project update, their Kitimat-based project has now surpassed 60 percent completion.
Over the past few months, the site has begun receiving and installing modules to process natural gas, some standing more than 10 stories high.
Currently, there are more than 5,000 employees working at the site, a number the company expects to grow over the next year.
Last month, LNG Canada came to a new agreement with TC Energy, the parent company of Coastal GasLink who are building the pipeline to supply the facility.
LNG Canada calls that agreement a positive step, which will address scheduled performance, and safety.
But, it also prompted TC to raise the estimated cost of the pipeline project from $6.6 billion to $11.2 billion.
Last month also saw the first 18 graduates of their readiness training program, which included nine Indigenous graduates, and nine women.
