Fourteen projects in the North will split $1.3 million in fresh funding through the Northern Healthy Communities Fund.
Among them is a $100,000 Ksan Society project to bring a full-time coordinator to Terrace to support people experiencing homelessness and substance-abuse issues.
Just over $93,000 will allow the District of Kitimat to hire a social worker to collaborate with the Haisla Nation on matters of housing, homelessness, food security, mental health, and more.
A combined $230,000 will go to the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine to hire a communications coordinator, junior planner and a fire prevention coordinator.

Distributed by the Northern Development Initiative Trust, the fund seeks to help communities expand services along the Coastal GasLink pipeline route.
