New provincial grant funding will help five First Nations in the north advance clean-energy projects in their communities.
$50,000 will go to the Daylu Dena Council to fund the design of a rooftop solar system to power their new community centre in Lower Post.
Capacity funding of $30,000 will go to the Kispiox Band to complete a community energy plan to help clarify goals and opportunities.
Another $30,000 will help the Tŝilhqot’in National Government explore renewable resource opportunities, and develop an energy plan to review existing clean-energy studies and cost efficiencies.
$150,000 provided to the Witset First Nation will help them install 20 residential solar systems as part of a small-scale solar metering project.
And another $150,000 investment will help the Kitasoo Xai’Xais upgrade 90 buildings in Klemtu with heat pump systems.
