A new virtual parent and caregiver coaching program is helping Indigenous families access culturally-grounded wellness programs to tackle anxiety.
Indigenous families with children between the ages of 3 and 12 can access mental health supports through the We Are Indigenous: Big Worries/ Fears Caregiver Support Program.
Designed by Indigenous people, the program is supported by the province and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Through short online videos and scheduled telephone coaching sessions, families can learn Indigenous-centered practices and strategies to fight back against big worries and fears.
Guided by Indigenous people, the program acknowledges the strong-spiritedness of their families, and the disruptive influences of colonialism.
