Category 2 and 3 open fires are banned in the Northwest Fire Centre, as of noon today.
Category two fires are one or two pile burns smaller than two metres high and 3 metres wide, or stubble or grass fires smaller than 0.2 hectares.
Category three fires are those which are larger than two metres high by three metres wide, and stubble or grass fires larger than 0.2 hectares.
Small campfires are still allowed, but sky lanterns, fireworks, binary exploding targets, burn cages, and air curtain burners are also covered under the ban.
Similar bans are already in place in the Coastal, Cariboo, Kamloops, and Southeast Fire Centres, with only the Prince George Centre escaping the ban.
