Initial testimonies in a sexual assault trial for ex-BC Cabinet Member and Tl’azt’en Hereditary Chief Ed John were heard in Prince George yesterday.
John is facing four charges of sexual intercourse with a female without consent, a charge which no longer exists, all allegedly stemming from incidents in 1974.
According to the victim, she was 13 at the time that the alleged assaults took place, while John was 25.
Both John and the alleged victim had been working at the Doh Day De Claa Friendship Centre at the time, John as the Director.
According to her testimony, two of the incidents took place in his office, while the other two were on the road west of Prince George.
None of the allegations have been proven in court yet, and the trial will continue throughout the week.
