With this Saturday being Parks day in Canada, BC Parks is asking that everyone who makes their way to a national park this weekend follows the Camper’s Code.
This code is meant to ensure that everyone who is visiting the parks can have a chance to connect with nature without any unwanted interruptions.
The code emphasizes not littering and keeping your campsite clean to not attract wildlife as well as properly planning your trip by packing essential items like a first aid kit and extra food, water and clothes.
It was developed by a dozen B.C.-based organizations in a collaboration that wanted to show people can still have a good time at national parks while staying safe and respectful of others.
As for Parks day, it is a day that was created to reflect on the importance of parks and realize how they provide habitats for animals and plants in addition to maintaining healthy ecosystems.
