It was announced earlier today that the University of British Columbia will be needing to hire a new president before long.
According to BC’s Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training, Annie Kang, UBC’s current president Santa Ono will be leaving his post in October.
Ono is off to the U.S to become the University of Michigan’s new president after working at the UBC since 2016.
Kang also gave a recap of Ono’s accomplishments during his time at the university and made sure to thank him for all he did during his tenure.
No word yet on any potential replacement candidates or on the decision making process for UBC’s presidential search has been revealed.
