A newly signed agreement will give the Williams Lake First Nation more say over the Cariboo Gold Project, proposed for their territory.
Signed between the Nation and Osisko Development via their subsidiary Barkerville Gold Mines, the participation agreement will support socially and environmentally sustainable development.
While the specifics are confidential, the agreement establishes a framework for the Nation to participate meaningfully in the benefits of the project.
It puts in place a comprehensive process for the project to be developed and operated with the consent and support of the Nation.
According to Chief Willie Sellars, the company has been proactive in supporting a robust engagement process with the Nation.
