A new project hosted by the University of Northern BC aims to help create better health outcomes for Indigenous people.
$1 million in funding from Indigenous Services Canada will support the project, which aims to eliminate anti-Indigenous racism from health care.
Known as Hearts-based Education and Anticolonial Learning, the new initiative focuses on training and education for health care students and professionals.
Under the program, they will be taught to promote cultural safety, recognize Indigenous and anti-colonial approaches to health care, and practise anti-oppressive methods.
A 2 year initiative, the project is operated jointly by the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health, and Health Arts Research Centre.
