The River Forecast Centre is issuing a High Streamflow Advisory for:
Skeena River including the Bulkley River and surrounding tributaries around Telkwa, Smithers, Hazelton, Kispiox, and Terrace
Rivers in the Skeena and Bulkley watersheds have remained relatively high for this time of year due to delayed seasonal snowmelt and frequent precipitation events. Another precipitation event is forecasted to occur over the upcoming days which could bump river levels up again to between 2-year and 5-year return period levels.
The public is advised to stay clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period.
Be prepared and know your hazards.
The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and will provide updates as conditions warrant.
The Regional District will provide updates, information, and resources on local radio stations, our website https://www.rdks.bc.ca/government/news/flooding_events_2022 and social media pages.
