More than 2,000 delegates are gathering in Vancouver today for the Assembly of First Nations Annual General Meeting.
National Chief RoseAnne Archibald led the grand procession to kick off the two days of meetings, despite her suspension from last month.
Archibald was suspended by the Assembly while they investigate claims of harassment and bullying made by four staff members.
But, Archibald says the staff members are actually seeking million dollar contract payouts, and accused the AFN of corruption and collusion.
Last week, an Ontario Court rejected her attempts to overturn the suspension, which she says is an attempt to silence her.
But, the committee eventually allowed her to attend the AGM, which will feature a resolution on whether or not to continue her suspension.
Today’s proceedings will wrap-up by honouring the AFN’s April trip to the Vatican, and a premiere of the Doctrine of Recovery film.
