Construction on Coastal GasLink’s 670 km pipeline is nearing 65 percent completion, according to their June project update.
Last month saw them transport their first piece of piping using their newly erected gondola structure at Cable Crane Hill.
That structure features two cranes used to transport materials and workers up the difficult terrain of the Coast Mountains near Kitimat.
By the time the special section near the hill is completed, the cranes will transport 1,400 metres of pipe over a 700 metre elevation change.
That will help make work easier for some 6,000 workers expected along the pipeline route in the coming months as summer construction picks up.
Pipeline installation wrapped up on two of the 8 sections along the route in May, with only the Houston section less than 30 percent laid.
