A washout has claimed a section of Highway 97 southeast of Lower Post, along the Liard River, northwest of the hotsprings.
It is believed that a landslide north of Coal River on Friday night is to blame for the eventual washout.
There is currently no estimated time of re-opening available, but crews are on-site performing an assessment.
For the time being, traffic is being routed through the much longer Highway 97 to 16 to 37 route from the east, and along Highway 37 from the west.
