A number of lightning caused wildfires sprouted up in the Northwest Fire Centre over the long weekend, some of which remain active.
One such blaze was sparked along Shaft Creek, south of Telegraph Creek, and is currently listed as out of control, covering one hectare so far.
A second fire, west of Telegraph Creek near North Chutine Lake, is also listed as out of control, and is covering 1.25 hectares.
A larger fire, west of Highway 37 along Blue River, near Lower Post, has grown to 1,661 hectares and is also listed as out of control.
Further west from there, another out of control blaze is burning just south of the Jennings Lakes, covering 65 hectares, and a new fire west of there along the Jennings River is estimated at 280 hectares.
